USPTO Holds Live Chat on AIA

TwitterOn November 6, the U.S. Patent
and Trademark Office held a live chat on Twitter (@uspto) to discuss some of
the provisions of the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act.  Highlights of the chat were the inventor's
oath/declaration provisions, preissuance submissions, supplemental examination,
and the first-inventor-to-file (FITF) provision.  This chat provided concise and helpful
descriptions of each of these provisions.

    Ah, nothing the like conveying indepth analysis regarding substantive changes in law 140 characters at a time.
    Full disclosure – I’m not a big fan of The Twitter, but from what I do know of it, I think an appropriate hashtag for that last FITF tweet would be #LoadedGunAimedAtOwnFoot, in light of what the PTO’s guidance regarding what the “grace period” encompasses.
    Perhaps we should leave The Twitter to the realm of food truck locations and athlete and celebrity musings. You know, the stuff having substance that can be completely expressed in, and worth, 140 characters of text.
    Now please remove yourselves from my lawn!
