The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) will be holding its Intellectual Property Counsels' Committee (IPCC) Fall Conference & Meeting on October 26-28, 2009 in Washington, DC.  The semi-annual IPCC conference will once again be open to the public.

The conference will offer presentations on the following topics:

Tuesday, October 27:

• Patent re-examination;
• Federal Circuit case law, 2008-2009 — The clerk's perspective;
• Luncheon Speaker — The Honorable Judge Randall R. Rader will discuss recent Federal Circuit cases and their potential impact on biotechnology;
• Bilski arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court; and
• Legal constraints on claiming:  Lessons from recent precedent of the Federal Circuit.

Wednesday, October 28:

• The vanishing injunction and other remedies challenges facing patent;
• Protecting pharmaceutical products in the U.S. vs. the EP; and
• Patent pools:  Design, efficiency and innovation.

In addition, there will be a meet & greet welcome reception on Monday, October 26 from 5:15 pm to 7:00 pm, and a dinner reception and exclusive tour of the International Spy Museum from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, October 27.
